Ave Maria

Often thought it was written for prayer, this piece was not written with any ties to Catholicism. Its text was derived from the famous poem, "The Lady of the Lake" by Sir Walter Scott. Schubert’s melody was adapted for the Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria (“Hail Mary.”)
